Our story

Hi. My name is Dominic and I run section37 out of my workshop in Ottawa, Ontario. I started experimenting with woodworking projects several years ago. I started designing and building the things I needed or wanted and learned as I went, perfecting the products in the process.

I finally got to the point where I had made some things I was really proud of and people started asking if they could get one made for them too. This is where I had the idea for section37. Why not share these things that I enjoy creating so much with the rest of the world?

The name comes from an old lumberjack saying. Section 37 seems to be some mysterious, nonexistent place. According to a 1958 DARE quote from a Pacific Northwesterner, “The usual township contains 36 sections, and 37 is not supposed to exist.” Therefore, the term describes something strange and unusual.
